Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) accused President Trump of appearing like a “thug” who’s attempting to “get rid” of governmental checks and balances by firing or forcing out top FBI officials and federal prosecutors who worked on Jan. 6 cases.
“It’s a cleaning,” Crockett instructed MSNBC’s Alex Witt. “When Democrats received on the market and we mentioned that our democracy was actually in danger, individuals had been like, ‘Democrats, you’re on the market, you’re gaslighting. It’s not our democracy.’ Effectively, he did say he’d be a dictator on Day 1.”
However Trump is “doing extra” than simply speaking, Crockett mentioned.
“We talked about Mission 2025. We talked in regards to the consolidation of energy. We talked about how he needed to be a king. We talked about, in a democratic republic, that’s not what it’s,” Crockett mentioned. “We now have some kind of checks and balances, and he’s doing every thing that he can to do away with these checks and stability. The DOJ [Department of Justice] and the people who he’s going after had been merely doing their jobs.”
Crockett, who served as a nationwide co-chair for the Harris-Walz presidential marketing campaign, has been a vocal critic of Trump and his allies.
Crockett additionally expressed little sympathy towards voters who supported the president in his marketing campaign.
“The issue is that People thought that it was OK to take a full-fledged legal and make him the president of america, after which they wish to act aghast when he does legal issues,” she mentioned.
“Let me inform you: We now have a thug in command of america. And if we don’t get up, we might not have a United States, as a result of proper now he has solely been profitable in being a divider in chief.”
